The Shadow Knows....

darth_stitchYeah - I know, I know I'm supposed to be working but I have my evil moments. This is one of them.
And hey, I have to get the mental image of Transvestite!Snape outta my head (sure, it's funny when it's meant to be comic but in a serious fic?!! good effing grief...)
Anyways, The Shadow - the one with Alec Baldwin, John Miller, Penelope Anne Miller and a still-unknown Ian McKellen - is one of those movies that I love that I thought could still have been done better. Yeah, it has its flaws - still, I love Alec Baldwin in the role and I love the way they brought The Shadow to life.
Which brings me to the fan fiction. In my neck of the woods, there's no way in hell I'd ever get my hands on even reprints of the classic Shadow pulp stories. This is Asia, ladies and gents, Shadow memorabilia doesn't exactly fall out of the trees here. Still, Shadow fandom is lucky in the person of one Kimbelry Murphy-Smith, a lady who publishes The Hot Corner fanfiction fanzine and is the author of several FANTABULOUS Shadow stories.
Her universe is the 1994 movie version and she does it justice with several stories, all of which are worth the hours of reading. Her Lamont and Margo are sexy, beautifully-realized...just plain perfect. The plots are what I'd wish the best TV series were made of - just the right mix of adventure, romance and yeah, the psychic/magic thing that makes The Shadow stand out from his similarly dark-themed hero contemporaries like Batman.
After waiting for ages for new stories from her, I was pleasantly surprised to stumble on this SITE and several NEW unread Shadow tales. Anything Is Possible...And Nothing Is Impossible is my current favorite of her Shadow series - a lovely prequel to the movie and the rest of her universe.
Will now read the tales I've missed. Run over and read them yourself. In the meantime, I shall find her email addy so I can give her feedback....
