Batman and stuff...
Jun. 17th, 2005 11:24 amStill no news from the doctor, other than the fact that Dad needs some SERIOUS nutrition and RIGHT NOW. My Dad is being a stubborn cuss, because he doesn't quite know what he wants to eat, only that he hates the food in the house and Mommy Duck is at wits' end, because none of us know what to feed him now. We are trying for liver and Mommy Duck will cook it nicely, so long as Dad eats something to get his blood up.
*rolls eyes* Oh well. So long as he's still here and being a stubborn cuss, we'll be fine.
Between myself and my brother the Eggling, we've decided that HE gets to keep an eye on Dad, while I make sure Mommy Duck is okay. Therefore, I dragged her off to watch Batman Begins, which she has wanted to see for ages now, so she can relax, munch on popcorn and unwind. She really needed that.
a. Christian Bale is a COOOOOOOOL Batman. Teh growly voice gives me happy tingles all over. Also like the fact that the movie not only makes mention of the Batman/Bruce Wayne dynamic, but also embodies it in Christian Bale. Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne IS the disguise. It's Batman who's the real person and "Bruce Wayne" is merely the disguise. And finally, it's a Batman movie where Batman IS the main character, and not the straight man for the flashy villains like the Joker, the Penguin et al.
b. Gary Oldman. Rocks. Future Commissioner Gordon! He's perfect! And I love the fact that he's not just blindly dancing to Batman's tune. He's wary of him, but knows he's trying to help. And I love his final scene, where he tells Batman, "What about escalation? Police get automatics, the crooks do the same. Police get armor, the crooks get armor-piercing rounds...." all the way to pointing out that Masked Criminals will be also coming out of the woodwork. Like say, a certain Joker.
c. Gary Oldman showing that Joker card made me go WHOOOOOOOT!!!!! Priceless.
d. The guy who plays Scarecrow is disturbingly gorgeous. Also looks like the unholy bastard spawn of Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort. Or LV and Severus Ajit Snape. Oh
wikdsushi? You didn't have anything to do with this, didya?
e. Liam Neeson. Kicks. Ass. His Ra's al Ghul is the true spiritual father of Darth Vader, I swear it on the Dark Side of the Force. XP
f. Love the set design of this entire movie - so very true to the comics and love the fact that Wayne Tower looks very much like the Wayne Tower in the cartoons. Beautiful bit of detail.
g. This movie demands an equally kick-ass sequel. Joel Schumacher - STAY THE HELL AWAY!!
h. Mommy Duck enjoyed the film muchly and wants to see it again. What? Mommy Duck has a bit of a fangirl in her too. XP Mommy Duck also adores Michael Caine as Alfred and humorously referred to him as Batman's "yaya" or "nanny." *giggles* We loves him muchly too.

Date: 2005-06-17 06:37 am (UTC)I'm really sorry to hear about your father. I'll add him into my prayers. I figure no matter the religion, it can't hurt to have someone else thinking about it.

Date: 2005-06-17 08:12 am (UTC)Thanks for your prayers - no matter what the religion, it's the faith in God that really counts. :) They've been helping us, a lot. Just knowing that someone out there cares enough is already heartwarming. *hugs*
