I love my life right now.
Mar. 2nd, 2004 10:53 pmDespite the pain that I'm currently under (aaaagh, curse my female reproductive system - sorry for the TMI), I still love my life right now.
My best friend has lent me a stack of DVDs which include Baz Luhrman's Strictly Ballroom - a wunnnerful lil ol' romantic dance movie I adore.
AND
Her set of the Extended Editions of Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
I love my friend.
Saturday found me in her house as she was doing her yearly spring cleaning, sorting out her books and DVDs and CDs. I happened to have had one of her fantasy books - the Fionavar Tapestry and she wanted to borrow some of my own stuff, plus the fact that I had a book to give her (Jennifer Roberson's most excellent Robin Hood tale - Lady of the Forest). So I helped her fix her DVDs alphabetically and by seriesesess (grammatical error IS deliberate) and she let me raid her bookshelf and DVDs.
So instead of shopping, I ended up with a whole bunch of borrowed stuff which I shall protect with my life.
Watched the Extendeds. Adore adore adore Faramir. The additional scenes brought him closer to the Faramir I remember instead of the WTF HAPPENED angry, angsty Ranger I saw in the theatrical release. Adore seeing the brothers together. Gave Denethor (rat bastard!) the finger for picking on my poor Prince of Ithilien. Cheered at hearing Sam's line: "You showed your quality today, Captain Faramir. The very highest." WHOO!!!!!
Legolas. Has. More. Lines. YAY!!!
Eowyn. Cannot. Cook. Snort. Snicker. Poor Aragorn.
Aragorn/Viggo. Rocks. My. World. He da King, man! He Da King!!!
Frodo. Adorable.
Merry/Dominic. Mischievous and adorable.
Pippin/Billy. Even More Adorable. No wonder
As for The Eggling - being as I was feeling the horrors of the Curse and could not even walk without twitching in agony (therefore I skipped work today) - he thoughtfully brought home Chinese takeout and shared with me. Good little brother. Very good.
And
Life is perfect. Even with this pain.

Date: 2004-03-02 08:44 pm (UTC)I love Strictly Ballroom too. One of my top three all time favourites. The soundtrack is great; a lovely variety of songs.
Another little tidbit for you. My son lives in NZ and is in the extended version of the Two Towers DVD! I think it's that one. I'm not into LoTR at all. He's one of the crowd waiting for the stars at the Premiere. I think ... :D
Lastly. I'm so glad McKay has finished "A Kind of Merry War". This was one of the first Snape/Harry stories I read, which set me on the path of my wonderful slash journey. *grin*
Hope you're feeling better now.
Strictly Ballroom
I really like how it's not as slick as Romeo+Juliet or Moulin Rouge, but it has as much color and impact. And Paul Mercurio's puppy dog eyes...*melts, partially from the accursed warm weather*
PS Sympathies on the horrid female trouble. Had it myself just this past weekend.
