JAMES "SONNY CORLEONE" CAAN may well be playing Danny's Dad for Hawaii Five-0!!!

I don't mean to be a "squee harsher" but I'd perhaps hold off on getting SERIOUSLY excited about this for now, for a number of reasons.

1. This was originally reported by a *gossip column* in Honolulu. Gossip columns aren't always known for their accuracy in reporting.

2. The original source of the item DIDN'T have a number of things accurate in their report.

2A) Like they misspelled "Danno". They spelled it with 1 N & it's actually spelled with 2 N's according to canon.

2B). They also said Scott's Dad's alleged appearance on the show would be the FIRST time they've worked together. NOT TRUE! They've played Father & Son in at least TWO movies (Mercy & A Boy Called Hate). They also appeared together in an ad for (I think) the Jeep brand of cars that was done during H50 S1 & is (or at least was) on YouTube. The tagline for the ad was "The evolution of a legendary bloodline" & there were other famous parent/child pairs in the ad besides James & Scott.

3. Scott's Dad, besides being an actor, is--well--also Scott's Dad. He MAY have just been in town/on the set on a PRIVATE visit with Scott, as his Father & not as a fellow actor. I mean, Scott's birthday was last month; instead of being able to be on the Mainland to celebrate it with his family, he was on the set in Hawaii working. Even if Scott's Dad was on the set he could've just been there visiting & watching them film the current ep they're working on (like when Alex's son visits the set when he's visiting Alex) & NOT necessarily there to actually film a part for the show.

4. The gossip column this bit of "casting news" originated in is the ONLY media source that is reporting this info right now (except for the H50/cast fansites that have reposted that report). It HAS NOT been confirmed by any entertainment news sources that are considered MORE reputable (i.e. TVGuide) OR by anyone connected to H50--including actors, writers, producers & the show's publicist--OR CBS network. If it were true, you'd be seeing it ALL OVER the place... SERIOUSLY. This would be BIG news that they'd want to spread as far as possible as fast as possible(but, having said that, there could be an argument made that they want to keep it a surprise until closer to when the ep involved airs... Just saying).

5. Peter Lenkov (the Executive Producer of H50) has already been sent at least TWO messages on Twitter, asking him to confirm/deny the rumor about Scott's Dad appearing on the show. He has responded to pretty much everything he's been asked since yesterday, BUT THAT REPORT. Again, unless there's some reason TPTB want an appearance by James Caan on the show to be a surprise WHY isn't he confirming, or even denying, it?? That's another thing that lends an air of "not credible" to the report. If they're not trying to hide that James Caan's gonna be on the show, why wouldn't he just say "Yes, we've got him for episode (whatever #)."?

6. When Scott's been asked, in various interviews, if his Dad would ever guest on the show, Scott's always said "Yeah if they had enough money to pay him"--making it sound as if it wouldn't happen because there's no way CBS/the showrunners would pay him what he would ask to do the show. And, unless he did it simply as a favor to Scott/TPTB OR because he would be working with Scott, an actor of James Caan's legendary status does not get a low salary when they do TV. Just saying. On the plus side, I guess, Scott's Dad has said that, IF he ever did the show he'd ONLY do it IF he played Danny's Dad. (Shrugs)

BTW, I'm part Filipina--I'm Fil-Am. My Dad's from Quezon City originally; my Mom's from Alabama. :)
