Ruminating on Plot Tiggers

Plot Tigger No. 1
One of my absolute favorite Filipino writers, Nick Joaquin, wrote this wonderful set of books known as "Pop Stories for Groovy Kids." Alas, The Grand Old Storyteller's already gone to That Place Gandalf describes as having "white shores and a swift sunrise" so there will be no more stories from him.

But of all the stories Nick's left behind, my absolute favorite has to be "Lilit Bulilit and the Babe in the Womb."

Lilit's this teeny bit of a person - a "bulilit" which in our language means "little," hence the nickname. Scarcely bigger than a cat, she's got this beehive hairdo adorned with a pussy willow and a plastic straw you'd use on a softdrink bottle.

The catch is that Lilit is a type of vampire that's common in our local legends. The sort that feeds on unborn children. Straight from the womb.

*grins evilly*

Now, I've NEVER really detailed the events surrounding Snapercup's *cough* Snape's pregnancy and Waverly's birth...

When I do this, it'll be a one-shot short story (I already have enough WIPs as it is) and most definitely an hommage to one of my favorite childhood tales.

Once I finish As You Wish, I think this will be my next Crossover From Hell Project. Ever since Alicia gave my Muses a copy of that classic swashbuckler The Scarlet Pimpernell, I've wanted to cast The Boys in it. Hee. I'm trying to decide which of them I'm going to cast as the Scarlet Pimpernell. Harry's brash enough and smart enough to do it. He's got leadership potential and the charisma to command the loyalty of the young men in the British nobility - say Ron and Neville. And he'd make a GREAT foppish Percy Blakeney - it will drive Severus up the wall.

And it's not a stretch to cast Severus Snape as this terribly brilliant man, feted by the rest of the world for his wit and looked askance at choosing a "fluffwit" like "Lord Harry Potter" for a husband. :P

Add Lucius Malfoy as Chauvelin.... hee. Make Harry's relationship with Sirius Black and/or Remus Lupin a point of contention with Snape. Have Snape's Death Eater past rewritten with Snape as a man sickened and horrified by the results of the French Revolution that he once ardently supported.... Hm. The possibilities!

The only drawback is that Snapercup will probably hex me silly for casting him in the "female" role again.... *snickers*

Oh yes, this will definitely be finished first. I refuse to start another LONG WIP without wrapping up the two I've already got on my plate. And hey, I want to know what happens next as much as the rest of you! :D

I appreciate you saying that you will finish "As You Wish" first. After all, I don't want angry Snarry fans on my lawn with torches, just because I distracted your muse!

I just watched the Anthony Andrews 1982 Scarlet Pimpernel movie again, though, and am VERY EXCITED at the thought of you taking on the story. There is a great website: www.blakeleymanor.com, with lots of great research for you. They have all the books online as well.

Heheh. Alas, I've NEVER seen the 1982 movie (drat!) but man, I really really want to do this fic. Eventually.

But first, Snapercup and Hastley have to defeat Prince Volderdink and live happily ever after first. And Snapercup is SO not going to be happy with me for casting him in the "girl" role again.... :P

It puts that Richard E. Grant one to shame. Anthony Andrews is brilliant. I used to have it on video, and finally broke down and bought the DVD.

Darn typo! You are absolutely right. It is www.blakeneymanor.com. It is all the books, most of which are difficult to get. The two books that were used for the 1982 movie are The Scarlet Pimpernel and Eldorado, but all the movies have pilfered from different books. Enjoy!
