"Ani? Meesa not believin' dis! Meesa tinkin' yousa dead!"
The Gungan rushed past Piett and enveloped a dumbstruck Darth Vader in a bone-crushing hug.
"Ani?" an incredulous Admiral Piett mouthed before recovering with an effort.
A number of Stormtroopers brought their weapons up in a reflex, but did not dare shoot for fear to hit Lord Vader. The next moment, General Veers gestured to them to hold their fire. The white armored men lowered their blasters again, equal parts embarrassed about overreacting and ill at ease with an alien manhandling the Dark Lord.
Several crewmen had difficulty keeping a straight face, and somewhere in the ranks, Sergeant Torb Garin snickered.
Vader himself didn't fare much better, if for different reasons. "Jar Jar?" he managed after several choked attempts. "Let me go, you're breaking my ribs!"
The Gungan did as he asked, after a final squeeze that left Anakin completely out of breath. He blinked at his Jedi friend. "Ani, where is Lord Vader? Everyone here bein' so expectin' him."
"Jar Jar", Anakin answered, slowly and carefully. "He's me. I am Darth Vader."
The Gungan let him go as if he had burned his hands. His eyestalks were extended so much they looked like they were going to break off. "No! Ani! Yousa makin' fun of old Jar Jar, right?"
"No, Jar Jar, I'm afraid I'm not. It's a long story. I'll tell you everything late."
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Ordinarily, I HATE Jar Jar Binks with a passion. But this scene redeems the bloody annoying bugger - for once I didn't feel the urge to go Dark Side and start whacking everyone with a double-edged lightsaber. *snerk*
Anyway, for all you AU Star Wars fanfiction addicts out there. Check out Force of Destiny by Llarian. Still WIP but it's a most excellent AU, funny as all hell with a GREAT supporting cast. Vader's relationship with Admiral Piett and the merry crew of the Executor is absolutely priceless. For once, the Imperials don't get the short end of the stick in characterization. Hee.

I turned out some fanfics starring Grand Admiral Thrawn, plus one featuring a stubborn storm trooper commander and his platoon of clones. Mweh. God, I love Star Wars AUs - mostly 'cos I've given up in exasperation over the Expanded Universe AGES ago.
I have to say I'm rather fond of Thrawn, though but not much of a Mara Jade fan. I love seeing Piett get a better deal than just being the next person on Darth Vader's choke list. :P And I really miss seeing GREAT Luke fics - the poor Jedi usually gets the short end of the stick in fics. Either he's on Prozac or he's doing this ridiculous Master Yoda impersonation. Argh.

'Sides, I have officially adopted FernWithy's Anakin and Amidala stories as true canon - being as I can't watch the Anakin/Amidala "love" scenes on Attack of the Clones without going into hysterical laughter. :D

It helps if you've read the X-Wing books & comics, which are about the only things, with the original Thrawn Trilogy, which I liked in the EU. (My favourite authors being Zahn and Stackpole.) If not, you need to know that Wynssa Starflare (a stage name) is Wedge's older sister, and will in the future of my story marry Baron Fel.

He was wondering about who Obi-Wan's love interest was and I told him, with a straight face, that fan consensus had Obi-Wan's love interest as Qui-Gon Jinn.

Hey, there's a reason there's a "Darth" in my LJ name now..... :P I used to be Jedi Skysong, but I find playing over the Sith side of the fence to be fun.
