Sharpen your ears, folks!
Jan. 14th, 2004 12:04 amI've been wracking my cute floppy ears over this for the past couple of days. What EXACTLY are the lyrics to Pippin's Song in ROTK? The lyrics I've scrounged up so far sound right except for some stuff:
Home is behind,
The world ahead
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadow,
To the edge of night
Until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow,
Cloud andshape shade
(I think "shade" is the right word. Makes more sense than "shape.")
Hope shall fail?
(I thought it was "All shall fade" and then, repeating the line once more. I think it makes more sense, since my sense of the song is meant to convey "hope." And Pippin claims NOT to know any songs "fit for grand halls." So why would he sing about hope failing, neh?)
All shall fade,
All shall... fade"
So, do my ears fail me or do you guys hear something else?
Yes, I'll be singing this for the next couple of weeks. Mweh.

And there are many paths to tread.
Through shadow
To the edge of night
Where all the stars are light (or alight).
Mist and shadow.
Cloud and shade.
All shall fade.
All shall fade.
That's what I hear when I listen to it. *Shrug* maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. I can usually decipher the wee Scot's lurvely accent.
