Which HP Kid Are You?
*snicker*
Okay, okay - I have a soft spot for Harry. But damn it, who doesn't?
(Malfoys, shut up and keep out of this, mmm-kay?)
Hey, part of the reason I like the kid is because he ain't the sugar-sweet sappy hero we're all used to in children's books.
Er. I refuse to comment on what they did to him in the movies. Oi, don't get me wrong - I adore Dan Radcliffe and his performance in the two flicks (not to mention Alan Rickman but y'all know that already - :p ). Still, as much as I love the two Harry Potter movies, my issue with it is how they made Harry a little too "sweet" - dispensing with many of the pranks and stuff that Book!Harry, Ron and Hermione did. The Canon!Gryffindor Trio are far more mischievous (and Harry more devious) than the movies show them to be. Though, to their credit, they've never approached the level of cruelty the Marauders showed to Snape in OotP.
(Yes, they hex Draco. But Draco's usually the aggressor against them - on Harry's part, at least, unprovoked attacks on Ferret Jr. was never his style.)
And yeah, I missed his snarky answer to Snape in the first Potions class scene which they featured in the missing/deleted scenes in the DVD. Maybe they were trying to ah...set an example for kids but good effing grief, it was there in the bloody book! Every die-hard kid who's a fan of Harry Potter must've read that portion ten thousand times. What was the point of "softening" it in the movie if the kids know about it anyway?

Oooh - must wave happily to
On the het side - please run over to
Trilogies...
Date: 2003-09-17 07:24 am (UTC)Harry is just plain fun to write. I figured once he started thinking about Numenor his mind would jump onto the thought of raising it. Nothing like a worthy long-term project, yes? :-)
