JKR reads fanfic....EEEK!!

This stemmed out of a chat [livejournal.com profile] lherelenfeline and I were having about well-known authors and the fanfic they spawn. We all know Anne Rice pretty much nixed fan fiction on her Vampire Chronicles. I know we have copyright issues and all that but hey, we've all got a bit of the rebel in us or we wouldn't be writing/reading fan fiction out here, right?

In a sense, the Potterverse is very lucky since JKR doesn't mind the fan fiction floating around and has actually recced fan sites on her webpage. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that she's mentioned that she has seen some HP slash. What pairing is a mystery although I suspect Remus/Sirius, because if it was anything featuring Snape and a student, we'd have heard about it and LOUDLY. :P Or she might have stumbled onto some Harry/Draco, being as this gets around a LOT more. XD

JKR strikes me as a lady with a rather good (or wicked, if you prefer) sense of humor and so I wonder what if she stumbled onto Snarry slash? (of course, I'd say Snarry, did ya think I'd say anything else?)

Picture it: JKR reading Telanu's Tea Series. And then she gets hooked on it and starts looking around for the good Snarry slash fics like Sushi's and JayKay's for example.

JKR reading Civil War. And the Side Fics. EEEEE!!!

Heh. Don't shoot me. This is me hoping JKR puts in some Snarry subtext in Book 6, confirming my suspicions that she really IS a Snarry slasher at heart. I mean, after Book 5 and Harry on his knees in Snape's office after all....

Much as I love Sushi and her work to bits, I reckon it'd give JKR a heart attack. At first, anyway. Particularly if she stumbles across any mention of the Dread OT3: Voldemort/Pikachu/Teefs

I always sort of thought that the reason it took her so long to publish book five was because she was too busy reading and writing slash to work on the real thing. :)

Sad thing is, I'm not sure the newbies read the classics anymore. Unless she finds a particularly good recs list. :P

But, hah. I'm looking forward to book 6 for just that reason too.

Oh, are you reading Cambiare Podentes? If you're not, remind me to link you.

Considering that Telanu was my first experience with Snarry...oh yeah, that will either scare her or hook her (I too think that she is a closet slasher...)

As near as I can tell, JKR is either a closet slasher or she doesn't have a clue about teenagers…how many people's thought about their first kiss as 'wet'. My first kiss wasn't good, but it was sure as hell more memorable than that. Add in Harry alone in Snape's dungeons and Sirrius lying low at Lupin's and we have more subtext than you can shake a stick at. Besides, I know for a fact that one of the sites she recced had Sirimus slash pics on it.

As for the classic slash, I assure you that newbies find their way around rec pages and archives. It may take them some time, but they get there.

My opinion is if she read's IYP we are all doomed. That is soooo the perfect ending to the series for me. I don't know if I think she can do it justice. And once she's read it she will just loose heart.
